Establishing a Facility for Obstacle Discipline and Full Modern Pentathlon Events

Modern Pentathlon Federation of Sri Lanka (MPFSL)

The Modern Pentathlon Federation of Sri Lanka (MPFSL) is pleased to announce that it has recently acquired specialized Obstacle Discipline equipment aligned with international standards set by the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM). We are now inviting expressions of interest (EOI) from public or private stakeholders to collaborate in establishing a safe, accessible, and weather-protected venue to conduct training and competitions for the Obstacle Discipline and all five disciplines of the Modern Pentathlon.

About Modern Pentathlon

Modern Pentathlon is a unique Olympic sport comprising five disciplines: Obstacle Discipline, Swimming, Fencing, Obstacles, Laser Run (Running + Shooting)

Minimum Facility Requirements

• Covered space of at least 4m x 40m for obstacle training and equipment protection

• Weather-protected environment for safe use and storage of equipment

• Access to or ability to develop facilities to support the complete Modern Pentathlon event set-up (i.e., swimming pool, fencing area, laser run track, etc.)

• Site must be suitable for UIPM approval for official events

• Easy access for athletes, coaches, and officials

Stakeholder Expectations

Selected stakeholders must be willing to:

• Sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MPFSL, approved by the Ministry of Sports, Sri Lanka

• Provide security, maintenance, and management support for the equipment and venue

• Facilitate training, talent development, and competitions

• Ensure compliance with UIPM safety and operational standards

• Location address with maps and photographs

• Existing and planned infrastructure

• Statement of interest and proposed support model

• Prior experience in sports facility management (if applicable)
